Planning on coming to Topsail Island? Here is a list of things you must see or do! 1) Tour! Visit the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Hospital, take a boat tour from Tiki Tours or the Belle of Topsail, learn the history of Topsail Island at the Missiles and More Museum and Historical Society of Topsail Island.... Go back on a Thursday night during the summer and move on to number two! What do Bumble Bees, WWII, and Blackbeard have to do with Topsail? Go to the museum and find out! 2) BINGO: the Historical Society of Topsail hosts Bingo on Thursday nights. It is fun for everyone and all proceeds go to the historical society. 3) FISH: there are THREE fishing piers on the island. The north end boasts Seaview Fishing Pier with a restaurant where not only can you eat their fare, but they will cook your catch!. Surf City Pier is smack dab in the middle of downtown Surf City. Buy you bait and fish away. Get hungry and eat on the screened in dining area. Don't forget to check the surf report on the pier's web cam. At the sound end, it's the Jolly Roger Pier you'll be doing your fishing from. Grab a snack and rent a rod from the tackle and bait shop. You can even grab a room at the Jolly Roger Hotel while you are here... looking for a home with me of course! 4) Boating at the beach is a must. Soundside Park has a public boat ramp (not to mention the park itself is great....but that's later) with another public ramp in Hampstead on the mainland side. Many homes you may buy (or rent) have ramps and/or docks as well. Ride over to Lea Island, the south end, or any little sandbar you can find, beach the boat, and relax or fish in waters from creeks to the inlets to the ocean. 5) Speaking of Soundside Park, you'll find docks to fish from or stroll while watching the sunset, live music, outdoor movies, yoga, holiday events, and more! They take reservations for your events as well. 6) Not only can you rent a boat, but you can also rent other water sports equipment. Whether it's jet skis, paddle boards, surf boards, or you name it, there are several places on the island to rent just what you are looking for if you didn't bring it with you. 7) EAT! Choose from walk-up fast food to fine dining. The island has a bit of it all. To highlight just a few - Pizza and Burgers: Island Delights, Max's Pizza, Michaelangelo's, Cora's - Casual: Shuckin' Shack, Daddy Macs, Sear's Landing Upscale: The Bistro, Beauchaine's 210, Beach Shop Grill... just a short list. There are many more! 8) Nightlife is a blast on the beach! From Gilligan's to Hula's to Second Row, there is something for everyone. Karaoke, DJ's, and live music can be found somewhere on the island almost anytime. If it's a lower key kind of night, Sear's Landing, The Bistro, and Beauchaine's 210 can quench your thirst. And don't forget movie nights at Soundside Park and Bingo at the Missiles and More Museum in the summers. 9) Shopping is a must on the island. Southern Emporium, Mia's Marketplace, Bumble Bee Market, Beach Shop and Grill, Topsail Trading Company, Sandy Toes, 50 South Surf Shop...too many to name...have lovely gifts, home decor, clothing, accessories, and more. 10) The beach...of course! Choose your part of the twenty-six mile long island to find the perfect spot to sun, swim, fish, play...whatever your heart desires! Bring your towel, snacks, fishing pole, surf board, boogie board, skim board, float, football, volleyball...or just grab a beach chair and lie in the sun and relax the day away.
