Saturday, August 26 at 8 AM Barron Lake Triathlon will feature 2 Sprint Triathlons and Kids Triathlon. The Long Sprint race starts with a 500 yard swim on beautiful Barron Lake followed by a 15 mile bike and a 3.1 mile run around the lake. Short Sprint will be a 200 yard swim, 8.2 mile bike and 1.5 mile run. See website for details Barron Lake Triathlon will feature a Kids Triathlon. The race starts with a 25 yard swim on beautiful Barron Lake followed by a 1.5 mile bike and a .5 mile run. We offer both a non-competitve (untimed) and competitive (timed with awards) divisions for the Kds Triathlon. less

Niles is what I would say has that "small town-home town" feel. As you drive up our Main street, you see both sides of the street filled with small shops that offer a variety of specialties. These range from a small coffee shop to a bait and tackle shop. There is a pizza place to sit and eat some very delicious pizza, then stroll across the street for a peek inside Veni's Candy Store where homemade chocolates await you with the most enticing aroma! There is many occasions that the streets are blocked off for special entertainment, whether it is a street carnival or a weekly car show. People love to come and hang out, visit with their friends, listen to music and eat ice cream all evening. As you walk further toward the Riverfront area, you will see the covered pavilion where music entertainment can be enjoyed from your lawn chair on the hill overlooking the flowing river. There is a very nice play ground for the kiddos to play and a very long walking/bike path to get some exercise. During the summer months, you can bring your blanket and watch a outdoor movie behind the Wonderland Cinema. There are many different festivals that come to the Riverfront during the warm months for all ages to enjoy. Niles is a town full of history and you can walk through the museum and see all the artifacts that have been found along the river from the early settlers and indian days.
