Help Corona Shop Small - Small Business Saturday

If you are a Corona resident or a small business owner, you can help the city of Corona participate in #ShopSmall on November 24. All you have to do is go out and support your local small businesses the Saturday after Thanksgiving!

Never heard of Small Business Saturday? Back in 2010, American Express noticed that small businesses around the country were hurting due to a recovering economy from a recent recession.

"In an effort to support local shops that make our communities strong, American Express launches Small Business Saturday on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to encourage people to Shop Small and bring more holiday shopping to small businesses." -source

 In 2011, the Senate unanimously passed a resolution in support of the day and officials in all 50 states agreed to participate. Since Small Business Saturday started, U.S. customers have reported spending an estimated total of $85 billion at independent retailers and restaurants!

We all know the day after Thanksgiving is the unofficial day to start the holiday season. Mark your calendars for Saturday November 24 to start #ShoppingLocal!

You can help spread the word and let the community know your business is ready for Small Business Saturday, Nov 24, by using #ShopSmall and #SmallBizSat hashtags on social media. The American Express website also has an entire studio with marketing materials you can instantly download.
