Mark C. Gurlea has wide ranging and very eclectic life and job experience. Mark earned his bachelor's degree in Criminology with a concentration in Urban Law Enforcement at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he graduated with honors. His minor from USF is in Psychology.
Mark's law enforcement career began with an internship with the United States Secret Service where he assisted Special Agents with investigations and protection assignments involving the President of the United States. After college he was hired by the City of St. Petersburg, Florida, as a police officer. From the St. Petersburg Police Department Mark moved to the Federal Government when he was hired by the United States Customs Service and worked as a Special Agent with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement bureau of the United States Department of Homeland Security (now called Homeland Security Investigations or HSI). He was based at the agency's San Francisco Field Office. With ICE Mark conducted complex criminal investigations with national security implications, to include art and antiquities theft, international arms dealing, terrorism, and espionage. Mark then worked overseas for an American mining company. There he oversaw and directed corporate security, routing out fraud, waste, and abuse. Mark also successfully took on totally new challenges such as marketing and managing a cargo ship.
Mark is a Notary Public and also a licensed private investigator.
Originally from Butler, Pennsylvania, Mark has lived off and on in Florida the past twenty years. He has also traveled greatly and even lived overseas for six years of his life. Mark can often be found in a movie theater, at Cardinal Mooney and USF football and basketball games, or traveling through an airport.
