I was born in The Commonwealth of the Bahamas and I am the second of three daughters. Yes, I am a proud island girl raised by parents who believed in community, family, faith, and hard-work. And yes, my father was clearly outnumbered; yet, he loved it! I cannot remember a day when we didn't have neighbors, friends or family members in our home as my father proudly cooked one of his favorite native dishes ¿ stewed fish and johnny cake, cracked conch, chicken souse or peas soup and dough, and my mom kept everyone entertained with stories that captivated us for hours.
Most recently, I served as the Chief Operating Officer for the American Diabetes Association stationed in the Washington DC area where we advocated for those living with diabetes and their families. Prior to the ADA, I worked for Walmart Headquarters as the Vice President of Global Learning and Development. Our team was tasked with finding, developing and moving critical top talent in the organization to deliver maximum value for the business. Prior to Walmart, I worked at Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas for 11 years. At Caesars, I served in various capacities including Associate General Manager responsible for working with property leadership on the day-to-day operations of the hotel and casino. I also served as Corporate Vice President of Employment and Training overseeing Talent Acquisition, Training, Human Resources Information Systems, and provided strategy and counsel for HR leaders, property leaders and human resource practitioner. Early in my career, I worked at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino on Paradise Island.
Aristole says it best for me. "Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives ¿ choice not chance determines your destiny."
